Willow Glen: Local photographer snaps up award for cozy baby photo
- A Willow Glen resident and photographer, specializing in newborn portraits, has been nationally recognized for her work.
The winning image, “Goat Cart Baby,” is one of many that the former kindergarten teacher has shot since she started taking portraits of infants two years ago. NAPCP The National Association of Professional Child Photographers recognizes the accomplishments and creative excellence of its child photographer members.
Each photo session lasts two to three hours, so that Lewinski can capture photos of the newborns snoozing peacefully or giddily smiling.
Holly Elkins, a Willow Glen resident and photography client, said it was a big deal to let someone else take pictures of her children because her husband is a photographer.
“She makes you feel like she loves the baby as much as you do,” she said. “We were taken by how she was able to capture the newborns. It’s like having Anne Geddes here.”
Lewinski said that she really does fall in love with each tiny new portrait subject.
“The most fun is getting to hold babies all day,” she said.
